Message From Wayne Courtney

Hello..
I have decided that the upcoming Great Roath Bake Off & also RoathRocks will be my last. I would like to thank all the hard working volunteers and Ofcourse all the amazing bakers that have supported our events over the last 6yrs. I just feel I want to pursue other types of fundraising and organise different events. I've had six amazing years building these events and we have raised an insane amount of money for charity, I am really proud of everything we achieved and the friendships made through these events.
I would ideally like to hand responsibility of the Bake Off to someone who will be equally as passionate about it as I have been. As a community we should be extremely proud of the success of the Bake Off, who would have thought we could attract celebs to little old Roath to judge cakes or to sing in a church. But for me personally I want to focus on other projects and both The Bake Off & RoathRocks take up a large part of my year. I will continue to fundraise but in different ways.
I'm so appreciative of every single person that has helped with these events over the years and also all the shops and businesses that have supported us, especially Emma & CPS Homes. I've been nominated & won awards for the fundraising I've done through the Bake Off and for that I thank everyone that has contributed something to these events. You all deserve an award.
I'm sure this years Bake Off will be a huge success again and I'm making sure I finish on a high with it.
So I hope you can join me on April 23rd for my last Bake Off.

'I am so proud of the success of The Great Roath Bake Off and it's been amazing to watch it grow every year. 2015 was an exceptional year for our team raising more money for charity than ever before. Team members made up of volunteers and previous Bake Off winners set up workshops in a local school and we were able to pay for everything so children could come along and learn about baking and cake decorating. The workshops were very popular and we aim to do more in the future. There was an outstanding turn out for last years Christmas Junior Bake Off with entries from as far away as Swansea coming to Roath. The dedicated team of volunteers work hard throughout the year at various other Bake Offs and are all geared up to make 2016 the best one yet. Personally I look forward to seeing the community come out and show its support to our event. We started working on The Bake Off in early January and want to put on an event that not just Roath but all of cardiff can be proud of' event organiser Wayne Courtney.
